Public confidence in elected officials is at an all time low. Transparency,  accountability and fiscal responsibility are at the core of effective city government. Our citizens need elected leadership intent on delivering outcomes and improving local, state and national perceptions of New Orleans government.

During our serious budget shortfall and financial crisis, the city government must use our limited resources to maximize effective delivery of essential services.

As your city council member, I will enlist the assistance and advice of professionals, including business and civic organizations, with budgeting and financial management expertise to put proven best practices in place.

My primary goals will be to: ensure a transparent budgeting process between the mayor, city council and citizens.

I will advocate:

For improved collaboration between the mayor and city council in budgeting and financial management

• To focus on maximizing value added results

Eliminate wasteful spending

• Insist on transparency, expose  and end patronage

Create budgeting practices connected to outcomes

• To ensure desired outcomes are produced with dedicated funding

Develop a review process for Departmental budgets

• Using performance measurements and results funding

Improve review process for city contractors

• Using performance measurements and enacting penalties for under performance
